Golden Berries

Is a fruit native to high-altitude, tropical Peru, Colombia, and Ecuador where the fruits grow wild. It is bright yellow to orange in color and sweet taste, making it ideal for snacks, pies or jams. It is also popular in salads and fruit salads.

 

The fruit is best noted for its high amounts of carotene and bioflavonoids which studies have shown to produce anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activity. Golden berries are also an excellent source of vitamin A, vitamin C, and contain a good amount of dietary fiber and pectin.

Unlike most fruits, Golden berries also contain protein and phosphorous.
